Artificially Intelligent energy management for hospitality and retail SMEs in Europe

Considerate Group’s vision is for an innovative yet user-friendly app, specifically for hospitality and retail SMEs, that will a) reduce the scope (and therefore cost) of energy audits, and b) provide bespoke recommendations for the most suitable and cost-effective energy efficiency (EE) building upgrades. These upgrades will support businesses to build back better following COVID-19, increase EU-wide investment in EE upgrades, and ultimately contribute toward 2050 Net-Zero Carbon commitments.

The aim is to leverage investment in Considerate Group’s existing app; fluttr. The existing app (which does not currently use AI) encourages EE in hospitality SMEs through simple, jargon-free energy data visualisations and generic upgrade and behavioural change tips. However, research suggests that bespoke EE upgrade recommendations would result in greater investment.

By synthesising, redeveloping and testing advanced time-series classification technologies, new sector-specific machine learning (ML) software will be developed to detect areas of energy inefficiency. This software will provide a detailed signature of energy usage within a building and business and replace the need for sub-metering by indicating categories of high consumption.

We are seeking a non-UK partner in the energy networks sector who could commercially leverage the outputs of this project (e.g. smart meter installers), help us translate the app, and offer us insight into other markets.
